Free COVID-19 vaccine for all: LG

Srinagar, April 24: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday announced free COVID-19 vaccination for the people in the age group of 18-45 years.Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha through its official handle said the cost of the vaccine will be fully borne by the government of JK. “It has been decided that COVID-19 vaccination for people in the age group 18-45 years will be cost-free in the UT. The cost of the vaccine will be fully borne by the government of JK. The health department will constitute a panel to work out the logistics (sic),” the LG office tweeted.The administration is all set to kick start a massive inoculation drive in Kashmir covering everyone above the age of 18.J&K is seeing huge daily spikes in COVID-19 cases and fatality numbers.At present, there are 10485 positive cases while Kashmir has recorded 1323 deaths so far.On Friday, LG appealed to people to register themselves for the COVID-19 vaccination commencing from April 28.State governments will get the Covishield vaccine at Rs 400 a dose and private hospitals at Rs 600, said the Serum Institute, which manufactures the inoculation against Covid-19.
